As the days grow warmer, I start gravitating towards the playlists of mine that put me in my summer feels. When I think of a summer playlist. I immediately envision driving with the windows down, preferably on the way to the beach, while the sun hits my face. So here are a few favorites I have picked that may help you set the tone this summer.
- Weekend Friend - Goth Babe
A talented, go-to artist of mine in these warmer months is Goth Babe. This song of his has a fun upbeat tune that easily goes hand in hand with days ideally spent by a body of water. Fun fact: Goth Babe, a traveler, has written a lot of his songs while living in vans and boats!
2. My Fun - Suki Waterhouse
This song absolutely speaks “summer" to me, with its warm and dreamy sound. When I play this song, I can practically feel the sun beaming down on my face while Suki sings through the speaker.
3. More Than A Woman - Bee Gees
Want to start dancing and have a good time? Play this disco favorite from the Bee Gees. The amount of times my sister and I have played this on car rides in the summer is close to infinite.
4. Pasture Child - Dominic Fike
Anyone asking me for a good summertime artist will always get the answer, “Dominic Fike”. I have loved his music for years, and this song specifically from his "Sunburn" album has found a place in every year's summer playlist! My favorite!!
5. Losing You - Solange
I heard this a few times during Fundraiser Week and felt it perfectly fit the warm weather. It has this catchy tune that immediately makes me want to put work to the side and go lay out in the sun.
6. Panama - Sports
This song is a little more mellow but it still transports me right to the tropics. I love Sports and this is a song that could definitely be heard on my speaker during a pool or beach day.
7. BREADWINNER - Floyd Fuji, Topaz Jones
I first found this song back in 2023 and it's safe to say it always goes with a summer day. Reminding me of music from Tyler, The Creator, “BREADWINNER” is always sure to get me grooving and in a good mood.
8. Love My Way - The Psychedelic Furs
Like many, I first heard this '80s summertime classic watching the movie “Call Me By Your Name”, another favorite in the world of media. The song, while it has a more unique sound to it, definitely deserves a listen.
9. This is the Life - Two Door Cinema Club
If I played a montage in my head of my ideal summer, “This is the Life” would be right there as the soundtrack. This lively song, one of my favorites from Two Door Cinema Club, belongs in every playlist this season.
10. Strange Magic - Electric Light Orchestra
I am ending on a slower, but just as whimsical, note for this last recommendation. A throwback and a favorite, “Strange Magic” is a song I could take the perfect summer nap to.
