I’d like to talk to you today about where your money really goes when you pay for a music streaming service. It probably seems like everyone you know uses Spotify. It isn’t even just a music streaming service, it’s kind of a social media platform as well. You can follow your friends and watch whatthey listen to. The platform makes it incredibly easy to share links or embed songs so you can distribute them among your friends.

It’s not exactly a secret that the goth scene and Halloween go hand in hand, but one may be surprised to find that some of us on the darker side of life equally appreciate tinsel and stockings, even those of us who light the menorah (more on that later.)

New Brookland Tavern had probably its best light show, and noise bands, I’ve seen this year with the Nothing performance on Dec. 9th, as the band winds down their 2021 segment of the tour. In tow were the bands Midwife and Bambara. I unfortunately missed Midwife, who I was looking forward to seeing most, but I had a friend who works at the venue tell me that it was a great set, which is all you need to know in order to make the decision to see them when they visit Columbia again. You can listen to Midwife AKA Madeline Johnston here.

Now that the holiday season is officially upon us, it’s time for a return of the age-old question: How early is too early for Christmas music? December 1st is typically used as a natural starting date for radio stations. After all, it’s the beginning of the month, and the beginning of the holiday season. This leaves 25 days to enjoy Christmas music before heading into the new year.
